I have a few things to say.
Yep, it has been a hard few years, yep, the things that we took for granted either disappeared or changed very intensely, yep, the incredible fear and distrust that we built into our psyches since January 2000 has come to explode onto the scene in terrifying ways.
Children and our brave soldiers are committing suicide in record numbers, we are fighting over whether or not it is our obligation as humans to care for each other. Our institutions are showing the outward signs of too many years of dirty dealings and making profit the only reason for their existence. Our government is stuck at fighting against entrenched ideas instead of working for the common good. There are media darlings who are paraded before us as fair and insightful but who are really spewing hatred, bigotry and ignorance.
Not to mention what is happening internationally!
And yet, many of us are all still too “busy” living our own lives to actually “DO” anything about it. I have been struck by our incredible tendency to watch, to SAY we are connected and yet not do anything that really connects us.
The longer we wait until someone else says the exact right thing that inspires us to take action, the longer we will stay mired in this in-between space that we all profess to dislike. Before I make you think that I am pessimistic and think we are to far gone to make any changes, let me share with you some beams of light.
• More of us are now focusing on what is truly important and what we wish to do with our precious lives.
• More understand in a clearer way that we are all connected and that if we work together we will get through hard times.
• New business models are thriving; co-ops and collaboration are more common,
• More people understand the importance of eating locally and paying attention to not just the financial cost of our consumptive behavior, but also the human cost of unconscious living.
• There have been some new legislation that has passed that will make things easier for a whole host of our brothers and sisters
• People are embracing new ways of connecting that is making it easier to share vital information.
So, I have some suggestions: turn off the TV, unplug your computer, take the buds out of your ears, listen and bring those clear, true expressions of yourself into the world. I promise there are some of us out here that will encourage and support you in being your best. We will leap to your aid!
THEN, take a moment, sit, stand or walk quietly and wonder to yourself –
What do YOU feel needs to be changed in order for your home, your town, your country, the world -wherever your energy takes YOU – to be more to your liking?
THEN, write down what you feel needs to be changed, put it out on the waves so you can find others who want the same thing, connect with them and then make something happen!
I want you to know, I am not afraid, I have seen the dark side and I have seen the light and I know that we all do better when we authentically show up and support each other to show up too.
Please bring your peaceful heart to bear witness in service to humanity and let us take our place among the seekers and doers. I know together we can do great things by taking many, many small steps and by connecting with each other from our hearts, souls and minds.
