Today, I am participating in a collaborative effort of hundreds of bloggers coming together to write about The Girl Effect. Thanks and a round of applause to Tara Mohr for organizing this amazing effort. If YOU feel inspired (and I hope you do), please write your own post in support of girls everywhere.
Anita and I have a lot in common:
• We had no support from our families to do well in school or even GO to school.
• We did it anyway.
• We were scared to stand up for ourselves.
• We did it anyway.
• People pressured us to not follow our heart.
• We did it anyway.
You know what we did?
• We were the first in our families to graduate from college.
• We own our own business.
• We use our education to help others.
• We are passionate about opportunities for ALL girls.
I wonder what YOU have in common with Anita?
I wonder what YOU would do in her shoes?
If not Anita perhaps you have something in common with one of the millions of other girls around the world?
I wonder will YOU do something today?
Check out the website, The Girl Effect
See what is happening right now and how easy it is for YOU to make a difference!
• Sometimes, we girls do things that scare us.
• Sometimes, we girls do things with no support.
• Sometimes, we girls follow our hearts.
• Sometimes, we girls stick together and change the world.

Diane, this is a beautiful post. The similarities between you and Anita make an extraordinary connection …. plus, it’s easy for many to relate as well. We all have a voice and I am so honored to be a part of this campaign and use the resources I have available to change the world and make an impact!
xoxo,
Nicole

Nicole,
Thank you for your kind words. I look for connections in my life and realize how easy it is to find common ground even in the most seemingly different places.
